Introduction

Baseball5 is a modified baseball game launched by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), without bats or gloves. The newly-emerged sport is simple and convenient to play with. Team spirit, decision-making and athletic ability can be trained throughout the game.

Unlike traditional Baseball, Baseball5 could be played either Indoor or Outdoor. The only venue required is a plain ground and equipment required would be a rubber ball. Baseball5 is made of five innings. There are five players on each team. There is no pitcher, with the batter instead starting each play with possession of the rubber ball, which they hit with their bare hand.

The regular pitch size of Baseball5 in official game is 21m x 21m. During training or unofficial game, the pitch could even be modified according to the environment, as long as there is a plain ground which could place all the four bases. Therefore, Baseball5 is very suitable for the densely-populated Hong Kong.

Baseball5 has already been listed as one of the event in the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics. World Cup, Youth World Cup, Asia Cup and Youth Asia Cup has been regularly organising, which shows the sport has its potential and being developed rapidly all over the world.
